Shifting from Being an Employee to Being a Business

Have you ever had a great idea that would be fun to build a business around?  Or have you wondered about starting a business?

Consider one simple fact: You are already a business!

Acknowledging this fact opens you up to being able to take charge of your destiny, in essence to be in control.  The product is you with your talents, skills, education and experience. You also have income and payables, just like any business. Hopefully, you will have a positive bottom line after paying your bills each month. This “profit” will give you an amount to reinvest in your product.

When you treat yourself as a business, there is the opportunity to make better decisions about your career.  For example, decisions are more focused about where you want to work, what you can do to promote yourself and what you need for additional skills for gaining an increased salary and responsibility.

The best thing about “being a business” is that you can make plans and assess your next moves from a distance that allows for better decision-making rather than feeling a victim of the events around you!

There are even more great tips in my workbook, Almost Famous: How to Market Yourself for Success!  When LemmonTree moved offices, we found original copies of the book that we’re selling at only $9.99, which includes shipping through USPS. Click here to order!
