Consider this quote from Jim Rohn, an American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker:
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
Who is your Fab Five? These could be best friends, coworkers, family members, or others that you spend most of your time.
As you look over the list, think about what their orientation is to money, work and success. You trust them, believe them, and listen to them. If these people influence your thinking, your career will be impacted by the discussions you have with them, the ability or lack of ability for them to help you expand your horizons, and the belief in money or success that you all talk about.
To frame the importance of understanding how others influence your thinking, consider the question that I first heard through Dr. Wayne Dyer, “What you think about expands, so what are you thinking about?” If what you are thinking about is discussed and influenced by your Fab Five, it is really important to decide who those key people should be to help you achieve your dreams.
